About Me

Alex is currently Opposition Spokesman for Regeneration and Modernisation on Greenwich Council and a ward Councillor for Blackheath Westcombe, which boarders Lewisham borough. He was first elected to Greenwich Council in May 2006 for Blackheath Westcombe and then re-elected in May 2010. Alex also grew up within the ward; he went to Halstow Primary School and then moved to John Roan Secondary School where he studied for his GCSE's. For his A Levels Alex moved to Colfe's School in Lee.

Alex works in Lewisham as a Surveyor and Chartered Planner and knows both Greenwich and Lewisham well. As a property professional he feels that he is able to add knowledge and insight to the Greater London Assembly on topics surrounding Regeneration, environment, the economy and land use.

During his time on Greenwich Council Alex has helped fight to keep The John Roan school in its current location and not be moved down onto an inappropriate site on Greenwich Peninsula. He has also looked into the new developments at the Ferrier, Thamesmead and the new Greenwich Centre amongst other issues. Along with fellow Conservative Councillors he supported the campaign to get CrossRail to Woolwich and is pleased that Mayor Boris Johnson has fought hard to secure CrossRail though Greenwich to Abbey Wood.

Outside of work Alex enjoys watching films and movies and is a member of the British Film Institute (BFI). He also enjoys reading non-fiction and has recently finished Bill Bryson’s “At Home”, and says he would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the history of everyday things.

Alex has also recently taken up photography as a hobby and when joined with his other favourite pastime, travel, has ensured a rich landscape of opportunity for moments to be captured by the camera.
